A compilation of the sayings of Archimandrite Sophrony, a master of the Orthodox spiritual life. Translated by Sister Magdalen.
These are brief extracts from the spiritual talks of Father Sophrony, founder of the Monastery of St. John the Baptist, Essex.
These extracts, nourished by the Word of God and by the writings of the Ascetic Fathers, are in the truest sense both evangelical and philokalian. They follow the formula of the desert fathers; Abba, give me a word. An example: In life there is nothing that is really insignificant, small, mundane.
